Press Mention_EL PAÍS
LPA´s Juan Palop-Casado has contributed to the discussion about urban gentrification held recently at the Spanish newspaper EL Pais. He points out that this issue should be better addressed considering cities as a living system, where the system´s balance is more desireable than the domination of a single activity. In Spain, we are now facing the catastrophic results of this phenomenon that can not be ignored by urban planning professions.
Workshop: Las Palmas as a park city
LPA´s think-tank instituto20grados has joint forces with the German Master of Landscape & Urbanism at the Karlsruher Institut Technologie (KIT) for the organization of a workshop at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The workshop will take place from November 25th to December 5th. For one week and a half, young architects and students from Germany, the Canary Islands and Marrocco will team up to speculate about the idea of considering Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as a “park-city.” A city defined by its lush landscape and topographies rather than its building configuration.

Press Interview_LA PROVINCIA
As part of an urban walk where LPA´s founding principal guided the participant through one of the most popular neighbourhood in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the newspaper La Provincia published an interview to know more about this event organised by the La Regenta Cultural Center. In the interview, he holds the idea that this neighborhood (Guanarteme) has been renovated with anti-natural logics. To proved this, he walked the participant to a series of examples that show how some of the existing local and natural flavours of this historic neighbourhood has been erased in last years of urban renovation.
